2009 Le Mans 24 Hours dates are 13th - 14th June
For 80 years the French city of Le Mans, located in the region of the Sarthe, has played host to the most famous motor race in the world: the '24 Heures du Mans'.
This event has become the ultimate trial of endurance for sports racing cars. A defining test of the car manufacturers' abilities, drivers' skills - and stamina for all concerned. The prize for winning Le Mans is the most coveted in the world of motorsport. The roll call of winners and participants is testament to the lure of the challenge: manufacturers such as Audi, Aston Martin, Jaguar, Porsche, Bentley, Mercedes-Benz, Ferrari, Maserati, and Mazda; drivers including Stirling Moss, Graham Hill, Derek Bell, Michael Schumacher, Mario Andretti, Paul Newman and Jacky Ickx. All are just some of the household names that have known success at Le Mans. These evocative names are part of the nature of the world's most famous race.
The race lives on and we are pleased to be able to offer you the chance to witness this year's event.Run by Aston Martin specialist, Nicholas Mee, Club Tertre Rouge (CTR) has, since 1994, organised annually a three-day party at Le Mans for the duration of the 24 Heures du Mans. Once again, Club Tertre Rouge will offer a limited number of like-minded enthusiasts the ideal environment from which to enjoy all the action of the Le Mans weekend. Club Tertre Rouge is organised by passionate people that collectively have decades of Le Mans experience, ensuring that you are able to relax and enjoy yourself, benefiting from our 'inside knowledge' to make your trip memorable. The Club Tertre Rouge weekend begins at Folkestone where the ensemble meets and greets, and boards the Eurotunnel*, followed by a spirited run down to Le Mans using the classic route via Rouane, Bernay, Gacé and Alençon. Alternatively, guests are welcome to make their own way to Le Mans, aiming to arrive on Friday afternoon. Having arrived at Tertre Rouge, cars will be lined up and displayed within the secure grounds of our venue for the weekend, the Gîte de la Ferme, which is very conveniently located in Ruaudin, just 2km from the entrance to the circuit. The Gîte de la Ferme provides clean, comfortable, purpose-built accommodation for 24 people in a mixture of shared bedrooms, with plentiful bathroom facilities. Exact accommodation arrangements will be confirmed on booking.
On Friday evening, the Gîte will once again play host to our Le Mans party which consists of an informal barbeque, with music and entertainment. We have booked a great band that will play various popular covers and even the odd special request! No doubt Saturday will begin with breakfast at the Gîte (while fending off the obligatory hangover) before heading to the circuit for the 'Le Mans Legend' classic race, which in 2008 will be run for 1980s Group C cars. The Le Mans 24 Hours itself will commence at 3pm local time, finishing at 3pm on Sunday.
Club Tertre Rouge minibuses are on hand throughout the weekend to provide transport from circuit to Gîte should you wish to slip away from the action for a 'refuel'! The Club Tertre Rouge weekend package includes all meals, beer, wines and soft drinks at the Gîte.
*NB: Bookings will NOT be made for Eurotunnel by CTR on your behalf. CTR attendees are responsible for organising their own Eurotunnel arrangements. (CTR will be on the 09:00 hrs crossing, on the Thursday)
